377 Days and Counting: A Plea for Compassion

When you think about Long Distance Relationships? How long do you imagine people being apart? 6 months? 3 month? or even a single month? For me it’s a lot long and more frustrating then that. I currently have been separated from my fiancé, not girlfriend, FIANCE for 377 days with no end insight.

I had my visa approved, my flights booked, even my suitcases sorted. In a matter of moments, COVID-19 came in and ruined everything. the wedding planning from December 2018 to February 2020 went up in flames. The even crazier thing is that we can’t even begin planning our wedding again because we have no idea when the Embassy in London is going to be processing visas again. We have no idea how long the renewal process is going to be and this means we could be waiting for our wedding way into 2022. I believe this is absurd.

Don’t hear what I’m not saying. We need to wear masks and social distance. However, to suddenly go from treating K-1 Visa recipients as spouse to treating them as tourists seems insane to me. Now I recognise that I am biased in this fight, I recognise that their are those that say the K-1 Fiancé Visa is full of fraudulent claims. I hear you and I don’t disagree with you. However, until you have to go through the process of gathering all the plane tickets, concert tickets, photos, family photos of you and them with both sets of family, have to answer personal questions about them to prove you aren’t faking a relationship. I would suggest you don’t understand the rigger of the process. I also believe some of the stigma around this visa comes the Hollywood production of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé. there are nearly 100,000 K-1 visas approved every year and they pick the 6 couples that are most likely to have the most drama.

Now for my plea, I would ask all those who read this from the US, call your House Rep., your Senators, to ask them to not keep loved ones separated any longer. As countries begin to open up again, shouldn’t the first thing be to reunite families and lovers? Presidential Proclamation 9996 which prohibits people who have been in the UK, Ireland or the EU within 14 days from entering the US was a good and proper move at that time. However, I believe now we have prophylactics, vaccines and other ways of mitigating the spread. It is time to start easing this proclamation. Beginning with Fiancé, then slowly easing them through the visa categories until the borders are fully open again. This is not just smart for the mental and emotional health of so many in the US, it is also smart economically. Fiancé bring expendable cash to pump into small local business when planning weddings. So please hear my plea. Spread this far and wide. Petition whoever will listen. This is so important because love is the most powerful agent for change. Love is not Tourism.

How Love Travels All Distances

I wanted to write this Blog as a way of helping those who are either in Long Distance Relationships or separated from their spouse/loved one for a period of time. I am currently engaged and planning a wedding with a distance of 4666 miles. Me and my fiancé have been dating about 18 months and got engaged at Christmas. We have been long distance for the entirety of our relationship.

Ride the Ups and Downs Like A Rollercoaster

As with any relationship you will have the moments where you feel like the you are a Disney prince and princess or Romeo and Juliet. (before the whole death thing) You are the most in love couple on the planet and everything is amazing, nothing about each other annoys you and your love will last an eternity. In other words, The Ups.

However, those moments will not last and there will be moments where you feel like any complimentary attributes you saw at the beginning are so far removed from the current struggle. The things that you once didn’t see will be at the forefront of your mind. Try nat even wonder if you can keep making it work. In other words, The Downs.

The main thing you have to realise is you have to ride these ups and down on a cart of love. Love is more than just an emotion you feel because if you just feel love the emotion, when you hit a down you might as well give up because you don’t feel love in that moment. However, if you choose ‘to love’ if love because a choice not a feeling then when up comes you are the most secure you can be but even when a down comes you won’t give up because the baseline is choosing love.

Look Forward and Plan the Future while Enjoying the Present

This can be particulary hard because you can focus so much on ‘its so many days til we are together.’ However, the key to a fruitful long distance relationship is yes planning those vists, counting the days and planing the years ahead. This is all good stuff but i think that to grow a meaningful relationship you have to be present and not live in the future. I have been guilt of this so much as my fiance will no doubt tell you if you ever meet her. I especially early on in the relationship, i would dream of what the future looked like. I would get so caught up in the fantasy of us being together for more than just a couple weeks. i began to live there and neglect her needs in this present moment.

I think that the key to this is plan date days/nights, where you watch TV/movie over skype together. Where you can dream of the future together. look at dream houses together etc. but most importantly ask those deep questions that don’t just address the surface level issues like food, music, TV, movies, dream vacations and if you are feeling daring politics. Ask the questions that hit deep like:

What is your relationship with your parents like?
What are your opinions on God?
What is challenging you most this week?
What is the biggest encouragement of the week?
What’s your biggest fear?
What makes you sad?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time and how are you getting there?
What’s your opinion on adoption?
Are you ok not having our own kids if we can’t?

This is the stuff that will build a foundation of love and not a foundation of infactuation.

The bible talks about a man that builds his house on a rock and a man that builds his house on the sand. This story originally means building everything you have on Jesus. I want to reapply this to LDRs if you build your house on infactuation its like building your house on sand. When the rain and floods (Hardships) come it will fall and get pulled out to sea. However, if you build your relationship on love, its like building a house on the rock. When the winds and storms come it will stand. I believe the reason me and my fiance are still together is because we built our relationship on God first and foremost, then on this foundation of love by dealing with the hard deep questions.

Dwell Don’t Visit – Part One

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takesaway, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it maybear more fruit. (John 15:1-2 ESV)

Here we see Jesus starting to lay out a principle that he is the sustenance and strength because if we remain in him then we shall become fruitful. I believe there are two kinds of fruitfulness.

Personal Fruit

When we remain in Jesus, we don’t just see a fruit in terms of ministry which I will come to after. We must first see fruit in our own lives with regards to 2 things.

Change in Character

When we start to actually rely on him and start a relationship with him. we see a change in our character where we throw off a cynical attitude and take up a trusting one. We throw off a ‘ain’t nobody got time for that’ mentality and become more loving. We change from a microwave culture to a patient heart. Throw off arrogance and self-centredness and become more humble and compassionate.

All these things set a soil of readiness to grow out of the behaviours of the world

Change in Behaviour

Once your character starts changing it sets a culture of change in your soul. It makes you ready for God to start dealing with the destructive behaviours. You may not even notice that these behaviours change but also some will take a conscious effort everyday to change and to hold off. This is why you remain in Jesus and the Bible because when you remain in him. You get strength and you remember that these commandments are out of Love not out of a fun ruining spirit.

As your grow in Christ you will see the fruits appear in many different behaviour changes. You won’t have the desire to get drunk, to sleep with your girl outside of marriage, to look at porn, to use crude language, to lie. You won’t be quick tempered, hard hearted or malicious or gossipy. Instead, you talk up a Authentic, Servant Hearted, Generous, Forgiving, Encouraging, Accountable heart that will submit to the leadership of the Godhead as well as the leadership of the Church.

Accountability, Authenticity and Submission go hand into hand. If you are accountable to peers and leadership you naturally become more transparent and Authentic. If you have a problem submitting and accepting your leaders rules then dig into scripture and see what the Word says about respecting your leaders wishes and therefore glorifying Christ.

When your Character and Behaviour changes then your ministry becomes more fruitful because you start looking more like Christ. What does fruitful in ministry mean?

Ministry Fruit

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;  and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11 ESV)

We see the gifts of the Spirit evident in the lives of those who decide to dwell in Jesus. We see them exercising in the spirit. This means when Holy Spirit tells you to do it. you do it. So we see people have:

  1. Gifts of Knowledge – this is the Gift to be able to talk to someone about a subject in their life that you couldn’t have know about.
  2. Gift of Wisdom – this is the Gift to be able to share a divine Wisdom. A Godly principle to a situation in someones life.
  3. Gift of Faith – The gift of faith is some thing that I believe is given for a season and is for a particular hard time to help you trust and hope that God is gonna pull through.
  4. Gift of Healing – This is not just healing of aches and pains all though we those are part of this gift. It can also be providing healing of the soul and heart.
  5. Gift of Miracles – The gift of Miracles is more seeing limbs grow and bones miraculously put back together. Even the dead come back to life.
  6. Gift of Prophesy – Prophecy has been misunderstood and abused for years. Prophecy is not meant to tell a girl you fancy that you are meant to be with her. It’s not meant for telling people that their kids are gonna be named ‘insert name here’. Prophecy is meant to confirm something that God is already telling you. Thats the glorious miracle of prophecy that you don’t what God is telling someone personally but God uses your to confirm it.
  7. Gift of distinguishing spirits/discernment – I would say this is one of the hardest gifts to define but my belief is that this is being able to feel not just the evil side of the spiritual realm but also feel Holy Spirit’s presence in a room.
  8. Tongues and the interpretation of Tongues – Tongues has two uses. one to edify yourself and let your heart and should connect to God’s with no thinking this is not the Tongues being talked about here we see a Tongues that is a public shout and declaration in a foreign tongue. This is where there is to be a interpretation of this tongue.

All these things should be evident in you if you are dwelling in Christ. They may not all appear at once but the spirit will give them to you for periods or seasons or moments.

The other thing that will show you are being fruitful is that you see people coming to christ but people can’t be saved if you are not talking about him. You won’t just see a hand raised or declaration in prayer. You will want to see them baptised and then also plugged into regular fellowship. This is true fruit in ministry. We count salvations, baptisms and attendance not because thats how we measure success. However we measure things things because we can give glory to God for the numbers and also each number is a person and EVERY PERSON MATTERS!!

Due to wanting to keep these Blogs quite short I am going to post a second part of this Blog tomorrow or Wednesday.

Kingdom’s Power Over All

I have felt compelled to write this Blog in light of the Terror attack on London yesterday. I live in the UK and know people that live in London. This Blog is to build them up but also with everything that is happening in the world right now. I believe this is a timely message. This is not going to be a rant on the end times. That is not my personality.

Make Your Bed with the Lord and Lay in it.

This first title may seem like quiet a confrontational statement but I use this statement not as ‘you have sinned so you are gonna be Judged.’ What is a Bed primarily used for? No! get your mind out the gutter. not sex. It is primarily used for sleeping and resting. So when I say make your bed with the Lord. I say find your rest your comfort in him.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul…Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; (Psalm 23:1-4 ESV)

If you are hurting. If you are broken. If you are tired. Go to him! Sit in his presence. Pray to him that Holy Spirit would come and give you peace, strength, joy and the rest of it. What every you are lacking he will give you because he is a generous God. Jesus said that the father will give us a Helper/Comforter/Councellor (however you wanna translate that word) That will be with you forever. (John 14:16 ESV) The Holy Spirt is always with us which is why after that statement Jesus then says ‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you… You will see me. Because I live, you also live.’

God has not forsaken us. He has not left us to fend for ourselves on the outskirts of society, like orphans, but he has given us Holy Spirit who helps us to see Jesus everyday in ourselves and in others. He also reflects the very nature of Jesus that is ‘Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end.’ (Isaiah 9:6 ESV)

When I was 23, I felt this everlasting peace, this peace that means no end. I had to go to the Doctor because I had something wrong with my testicals. I had to go for an ultrasound and I was convinced that I was going to come back and say I had cancer at the age of 23. The emotions you go though with God in that time is crazy. You go from anger, to sadness, to anger, to begging. Then if you respond and ask the right question. and like in John 15 remain in him. He will give you peace. I luckily didn’t have cancer and I got treatment but I am so content with when my time does come because the peace of God never left me. If you don’t leave God he will never leave you.

The kingdom of God is not about earthly needs. The kingdom of God is about righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit. The more we pursue these things in our lives the quicker we will see the Kingdom of God invade this world. For the New Heaven and the New Earth descended from the heavens.

God is the Rock on which we stand and It CANNOT be Moved

1 Samuel 2:2 says ‘There is no Holy One like the Lord, no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God’. Isaiah says ‘before me no God was formed nor shall there be any after me’ (Isaiah 43:10 ESV) and ‘Is there a God besides me? This is no Rock; I know not any.’ (Isaiah 44:8 ESV) David writes that ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.'(Psalm 18:2 ESV)

Christ said that if your obey and trust in his word you are like a man that build his house on a rock. when the Flood comes you stand firm. and there are many more verses I could quote that show God as a place of refuge and strength. what I want to focus on is the picture of a rock as a place of safety against trial and tribulation. If you take my story of illness for example. I could have easily ran away from God asking why has he let this happen me. Instead I clung to him and the storm calmed.

Peter only started sinking in the stormy see when he took his eyes of Christ. In this time of history we live in. We need to push into God and looking to him for our strength and restoration and shelter. When he speaks the seas calm. Whether you live in London or anywhere else in the world. The treat of terror is real. However, there is NONE besides OUR GOD. Our God is the Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and The End. The Eternal all power Creator. The Devil has been trying to move him and his Church for over 2000 years now and guess what he has won NO ground. None because the Gates of Hell shall never prevail against the Church. The declaration of Faith is the Rock that Christ built his Church upon and All thrones, rules, authorities on heaven and on earth are subject to HIM.

No-one can Stand Against Our God.

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 ESV)

Our God is so powerful. There is nothing that can come against us. There is no Terrorist against that God can heal people from. There is No executive order that God can mend. There is No Healthcare Act that God can amend. There is No Article 50 that God can’t make work for his Glory. There is No President that God can not change the heart of. There is No-one that will make the nations cry, for the the rocks to fall down on them. Apart from the Lord our God. The Lord will reign for now till he decides time has come to an end.

If you are scared and frightened of what the future of our world looks like. If you are scared about all the evil in the world. Come to God for his Arms are open waiting for you like a Father holds his arms open ready for a child to run into them. Know that if God is on our side. there is nothing that can stop us. I finish with these verses and the link to song that I believe will help us all.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him. and he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17 ESV)

Look to the Past for the Promise of Today

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, (Hebrews 12:1-2a NRSV)

This week I am going to look at how looking to the past examples of Christian life can help and is a biblical principle to help you run the race of life. Not looking back at past events in your life and dwelling on the past sin in your life because that can only cause stumbles and falls back into that sin.

Legacy is a Cheerleader

What we read in Hebrews here is that we are ‘surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…’ (Heb. 12:1a) What is meant by these witnesses? What is this word? Is witnesses the best translation? What does it mean??

The Greek word here is μαρτυρος.

μαρτυρος is translated as witnesses and it is were we get the word martyr. A Martyr bore witness to the faith. It is also linked to the word μαρτυρια that means testimony.

So I believe that this is the same thing that We are surrounded by witnesses. A bunch of examples to follow while following Jesus but also there is a difference between example and testimony. Example shows you how to live and provides strategies to walk in your life. Testimony is a cheer a loud cry to encourage you to show that God is still moving and God has done it once so he can do it again. Holy Spirit knows what you need and how minister to you through other people’s stories.

I remember when I was 17/18 I went through quite deep depression and this is not just feeling down. We are talking close to suicidal thoughts. I then heard the story of Nick Vujicic. He is a man that was born without arms and legs. I remember watching a video of his testimony. It stirred my heart because he as a young boy thought of suicide and all he had to do was roll over in the bath. However, he turned to the bible and read this:

Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked, “Rabbi, who sinned: this man or his parents, causing him to be born blind” Jesus said, “Your asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. (John 9:1-3 MSG)

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; He was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him. (John 9:3 NRSV)

He realised that that God has made him the way he has been made to do God’s Glory. I doubt he will read this blog but if he does. I wanna thank him for that testimony because I kept me going that God was teaching me something in that time in that dark season it was producing something.

We boast in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. (Rom. 5:3-5 NRSV)

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit! (Rom. 5:3-5 MSG)

I am including both versions here because both have different resonance in the NRSV translation shows exactly what Paul is stating but those words can be very loaded and difficult to get a grip around so the message paraphrase uses more emotive language that shows the strength of character is like that of steel. Character is our back bone. Character and Authenticity is what the church should be marked with. No more double lives. No more hypocrisy. No more judging on what people wear and say.

Shake it off, Shake it off

let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us (Heb. 12:1b)

This second half of verse one is also very important. We look to those in that have gone before us to see how they deal with temptation and sin. I look to other people who have struggle with singleness to help me with my singleness. I look to other people who have struggle with sexual sin to close the door to sexual sin.

The thing I want to pick out here though is that there is a something we miss in this verse. We as a Global church often pray that God takes our sin away. However, what we see here is ‘let US lay aside’ We see that God helps us defeat sin but it is also our responsibility to take it out and throw it away.

I choice not to watch porn and throw that sin away. I choice not to smoke everyday because it doesn’t honour the body God has given me. When we shake off sin with God’s strength it stays off if we keep turning to him in times of temptation. Remember if you do it with the christ you will be free because the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NRSV)

This what they calling running the race with perseverance. The race of life. the race of sanctification. The race to Glory. The examples and testimony of the past encourage us and cheer for us like a crowd cheers for a football team. Like fans at the side of a marathon.

A Loving Stare

looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. (Heb 12:2a)

We see here that we are to look to Jesus while running this race. I wanna make sure that we understand its a continuous word here. We don’t look t Jesus to get saved and then run the race on our own. It’s run the race with our eyes FIX ON JESUS. In the same way that a kid keeps its eyes fixed on a parent when running into their arms. This is how we should run the race of faith.

Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus means we do everything above because if we are focused on Jesus. The saints of the past are reflexing the Glory of Christ. The more we focus on Jesus the more we are able to resist temptation because you won’t even see it. It won’t distract you. Jesus is and should always be your focus not the temptation in front of you.

A 110m hurdler doesn’t focus on the hurdles he focuses on the finish line because if he focuses on the hurdles they automatically run into them and get too close to jump over them.

Conclusion

Look to the past for inspiration and example on how to run the race of faith. Take responsibility for your sin and throw it into God’s eternal fire with God’s help. Finally, Fix your eyes on Jesus because he will complete the work that he started in you and if you keep focused on him. You will resist sin and the Father will say you are my son in you I am very please.

Pride, Guilt, Healing

I felt like starting this Blog up again to help vocalise and teach some of the lessons I have learnt over the last few years.

I want to start by sharing a story. I checked with the guy who is the subject of this story and he has given me permission to share his story. I will keep names and place out to protect him and his heart as we are called to do as Christ followers.

This story is about a 20 year old Bible College student who was so excited to start studying God’s word and what his ministry is going to look like because God has told him that this is where is being called.

However, after a month or so, his devotion time started to dissipate and he starts talking to a girl at his college but this is not talking about Jesus or Ministry or God. They were talking about how many relationships they had been in which was really innocent to start but then it started escalate to sexual topics. They start talking about what them having sex would look like? Where they would do it? They even started sending nude pictures to each other.

All this is going on while he is teaching about Jesus. He is leading worship on a Sunday morning. He is preaching about how God can deliver you from your past. He believes this but doesn’t practice it.

A few days before he is about to start his second year at college; Checking his emails he sees one from his tutor asking for a meeting. This seems like a normal occurrence but this was not. His tutor starts asking about the images and whether it was true. He asks whether they did have sex. Whether they had sex on campus.

The student’s heart sinks into his stomach. He admits to everything that he had done but refused to admit that to the stuff he hadn’t. He gets told there is going to be a formal disciplinary hearing with the tutor and two of the senior management. He explains to them exactly what he had said to his tutor. They seem to not believe him.

Two days later, He gets called to the senior management for the decision. He gets offered to leave and have a neutral reference. The other option is get expelled and fight. The guilt he once felt turns into pride, anger and a sense of injustice that the girl getting to stay at the college overcomes him. He takes that letter of expulsion and storms out the office. Filled with the rage, pride and hurt. He types his appeal letter. Each sentence is the swing of a judgemental, indignant, self-righteous and heartbroken sword that smashes into the character of each member of the disciplinary panel.

It didn’t matter how well crafted or how well he articulated his hurting, tinted view of these people. They were always going to up hold the decision.

Shame Turns to Pride Turns to Regret

As we see in this story, there is a stages that I believe every person goes through when dealing with sin and confrontation and rebuking. What we see initially is that there is a deep sense of shame. This is where you realise people have sound out about that skeleton in your closet. The light starts shining in the darkness of the heart. I believe that everyone feels this when secret sin is uncovered that gut-wrenching feeling in your stomach that means you nearly ‘chunder everywhere.’ The feeling that make your head drop. the feeling that you get when you stare at the sun without shades on. This feeling is a good feeling. Not in the sense that it feels good but that shame shows areas we need to correct and have the transformation of the mind (Romans 12:2) It can make you realise that what your doing needs to be got rid of before you move into God’s purpose.

However, what happened with the man in our story is that the feeling Shame soon shift and morph like a power ranger into an ugly monster of Pride. Pride is what happens when you take the wrong attitude to change. It is when the enterprise puts its shields up. It is Orlando Bloom punches Justin Bieber. It’s a when you don’t have a teachable spirit or respect for those in authority over you. You like what your doing it feels good. It’s not hurting anyone. It’s just sex, It’s just getting drunk, It’s just missing one meeting, It’s just missing one lecture, It’s just porn, It’s just one joint.

This attitude will cause the Lord to look at you and go “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23) and its because of your timidness that will cause the Lord on the day of judgement to spit you out because you acted like you didn’t need him. (Revelation 3:16f.) You had enough money, you were kind of happy in your relationship. You thought you were living in the White House when actually you were living in the favelas. When pride sets it causes your heart to harden to God’s work. It causes you to lash out at those around you. It causes you to resist the authority over you. We see this in our story where our lad fights and fights against what he saw as injustice. He offered blow after blow against his Rocky Balboa and he didn’t even make him stumble. Thats the thing with Pride and taking punches out of that place it will never make a dent. The phrase ‘pride comes before the fall.’ I think is actually slightly in accurate. I think pride comes while falling and after the fall. When the ground beneath you starts sliding you valiantly try to run back up the hill rather than sliding down the hill into the arms of a loving father, because the father will always catch you. (Psalm 37:24)

The end of our story is different than you think because overtime if you stay connected to church then this Pride you experience will change into Regret. Regret for hurting the loved ones trying to support you. Regret for launching character attacks at people who want the best for you and for the rest of the college. Regret for the sin you had. This place of regret can either cause a pity party or will cause healing and growth.

In our story, The guy felt that regret and he then moved that regret into change and healing and freedom. If you dwell in God’s presence, he brings healing and freedom because “where the spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom.” ( 2 Corinthians 3:17) because of the Triune God. there is freedom in the spirit and “if the Son sets you free, You are free indeed.” ( John 8:36)

Healing Leads to Calling

The end to this story is a happy one. This man did not walk away from church because he was hurt by it. He walked further into church because the further into church you run and better you are plugged in the more of Christ and God you will absorb. He still struggles with some of the problems he went through but because of the church he has systems and supports to stop him going back there. He is now chasing his calling again. He is back at a different Bible College and is ministering in a local church. God is moving in his life.

We can learn that all things. I mean “ALL things will work for the good of those who love him.” (Romans 8:28) When you go through a storm and you fail and stumble and feel so inadequate. God will use this storm to build you up and make you stronger. Like a body builder has to go through the pain of breaking muscle tissue to get stronger. The same way God has to break and tear parts of your life for you to grow and be strengthened in our faith and trust in God.

My hope is that this post would build you up and strengthen you in the your faith. I believe that this post could bring and will bring healing to people who have done through suffering and has experience extreme diversions from the calling they believe God has for you.
